Chakar ventured on his own in 1986 and set up BECT.
Since its inception BECT has
mainly catered to the local market. In addition to its intensive

international clients for international projects.
Mr. Chakar’s previous

BECT for over 20 years:

1986: He founded, with Mr. Salame, GICOME Office where he was
Partner and Technical Director.
In addition to heading his
office, Mr. Chakar is a professor at the Faculty of Engineering of
the St. Joseph University (USJ) teaching both Reinforced Concrete
and Bridge Design.
BECT Design was recently
introduced as Architectural Branch of BECT.

The office is built around
groups of highly specialized and experienced associates, most of
which are faculty members at universities and teach in their
respective domain of expertise. The office specializes in mixed-use,
residential, commercial, and industrial buildings as well as
bridges, highways and roads.
In addition to engineering
design services , BECT also offers construction administration and
site supervision for local projects and provides consulting and

Integrated Multi-Disciplinary Solution
Thru Strategic Ventures
Even though BECT is a
structural engineering firm, a multi-disciplinary design solution is
achieved thru strategic ventures with other local
offices. A fully integrated S-MEP solution is provided by teaming up
with local world renowned MEP companies.
BECT has teamed up with BECT
Design to provide the necessary solutions to whatever challenges
come our way.
Technology & Building Information Modelling (BIM)
Computer data processing
strongly supports the office departments. Each department has both
the appropriate infrastructure and its wide variety of
specialized software and programs that are used in the building
sophisticated analysis and simulation models.
BIM (Building Information
Modelling) is being introduced – thru the use of
REVIT – as a tool to push the boundaries of structural complexity,
and help with the coordination and multi disciplinary integration.
