Armed with an extensive experience in the structural design field and works supervision, Mr. Chakar ventured on his own in 1986 and set up BECT.

 

Since its inception BECT has mainly catered to the local market. In addition to its intensive portfolio of projects built in Lebanon, the office has worked with international clients for international projects.

 

 

Mr. Chakar’s previous extensive experience equipped him to successfully manage and run BECT for over 20 years:

- From 1970 to 1980: He was the Structural Technical Director at Mr. Antoine Salame’s Office.

 - From 1980 to 1986: He founded, with Mr. Salame, GICOME Office where he was Partner and Technical Director.

 

In addition to heading his office, Mr. Chakar is a professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the St. Joseph University (USJ) teaching both Reinforced Concrete and Bridge Design.

 

 

BECT Design was recently introduced as Architectural Branch of BECT.

Vision and Objective

  

BECT prides itself for its extensive portfolio of high end and complex projects. Mr. Chakar’s business model consists mainly of working with world class architects to deliver technically challenging and high end project

 

The strategic objective of the BECT is to build up an experienced high caliber professional team, capable of managing and delivering challenging projects thru design, construction and improvement of buildings, bridges, highways and roads

 

 

Structural Expertise and Design Specialty

  

The office is built around groups of highly specialized and experienced associates, most of which are faculty members at universities and teach in their respective domain of expertise. The office specializes in mixed-use, residential, commercial, and industrial buildings as well as bridges, highways and roads.

 

In addition to engineering design services , BECT also offers construction administration and site supervision for local projects and provides consulting and review expertise to other engineering firms.

 

 

Integrated Multi-Disciplinary Solution Thru Strategic Ventures

  

Even though BECT is a structural engineering firm, a multi-disciplinary design solution is achieved thru  strategic ventures with other local offices. A fully integrated S-MEP solution is provided by teaming up  with local world renowned MEP companies.

 

BECT has teamed up with BECT Design to provide the necessary solutions to whatever challenges come our way.

 

 Technology  & Building Information Modelling (BIM)

  

Computer data processing strongly supports the office departments. Each department has both the  appropriate infrastructure and its wide variety of specialized software and programs that are used in the  building sophisticated analysis and simulation models.

BIM (Building Information Modelling)  is being introduced – thru the use of REVIT – as a tool to push the boundaries of structural complexity, and help with the coordination and multi disciplinary integration.

 

 

International Expertise

  

All projects completed by BECT follow international codes,  standards, and best practices such as: ACI (American Concrete Institure), UBC (Uniform Bubilding Code, IBC (International Building Codes), AASHTO (American Association of State Highway  and Transportation Officials) Euro Code etc…
